3 FEELINGS OF BEING FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT IN YOUR TWENTIES
1) LIBERATING The financial freedom you get when you land your first full-time job is something else. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of swiping your brand new debit card to make a purchase- especially when you know you have earned it. Up until then, all my things were purchased by my family or from the money earned through my mini-side hustles (it wasn't much). Now, I buy things guilt-free although I am borderline scared of making unjustifiable purchases that would dig a hole in my budget. Nevertheless, it feels great.
2) HELLA SCARY
On the flip side- being financially independent means taking care of your financial responsibilities no matter what life throws at you, be it monthly expenses like loan repayment on car/apartment or student debt (in my case it was back home in India). Or random expenses like team outings. There’s no safety net like there used to be and it's a little unsettling and scary. So be mindful of how you budget your income and don't forget to save.

3) FULFILLING
This is subjective depending on how you define “fulfillment”. As a teen, when I would hear people say things like: ”should I quit the job I hate?” the solution to me was straightforward: hate it, quit it! Fast forward to a wiser Jincy, I totally understand the feeling. I have a 9-5 job and it isn't something I love doing. That said, if someone were to ask if they should quit their jobs without a plan-B, I would say think twice. Once you get with the grid of making money and realize the importance of a steady job and income, you truly begin to appreciate and feel like its a blessing even though you are uneasy at your current job. This feeling is because you don't want to lose that safety net. Be thoughtful every step of the way and strategize your moves.
